How to dice tomatoes
This one's for the new cooks or the ones who have avoided dicing tomatoes until now. It's time to be brave!
Cut the tomatoes in half. Cut the core. Start by making a diagonal cut on one side of it, like you’re trying to encase the core in a half a pyramid. Then cut the other side to make the other half of your pyramid, making sure your two cuts meet at the back. The core should just pop right out.
Lay the tomato cut side down on the cutting board. Start by cutting about 1cm slices towards you.
Now lay those slices flat and start cutting the half-moon of tomato into strips (I thought I took a photo of this, but apparently not. Use your imagination!).
These strips can be cut in half and even half again until it looks ‘diced’. There. Now you’ve diced a tomato!
Now if you’re like me and never get your knives sharpened, or expensive knives are out of your budget, I recommend getting one of these for things like tomatoes. They are cheap and never go blunt. Not a sponsor, I just think they are cool. And they are literally called tomato knives! Incredible.
